Nepal Tourist Visa information
Foreigner who intends to visit Nepal must hold valid passport or any travel document equivalent to passport issued by the Govt. for visiting a foreign country prior to apply for visa.
a) Entry:- No foreigner is entitled to enter into and stay in Nepal without valid visa. Tourist entry visa can be obtained for the following duration from Nepalese Embassy or Consulate or other mission offices or immigration offices located on entry points in Nepal.
b) Chinese citizen are requested to apply in Nepalese Embassy or other
Nepalese diplomatic missions as there is no provision of on arrival visa for them.
Visitors who are entering Nepal for the first time in a visa year (Jan-Dec)
Visa Fees
- Fees to be levied while issuing tourist visa by the Mission and entry point:
For foreigners desiring to come to Nepal first time in visa year,
- US Dollars 25 or other convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto for 15 days multiple entry visa.
- US Dollars 40 or other convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto for 30 days multiple entry visa.
- US Dollars 100 or other convertible foreign currency equivalent thereto for 90 days multiple entry visa.
- Notwithstanding anything written in clause (a) and (b), no visa fee shall be applicable to the passport holder of member country of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) for 30 days .
- Fees to be levied for renewal or regularization of tourist visa
- Nepalese currency equivalent to 2 US dollars per day in addition to renew the validity tourist visa.
- In case where request has also been made for the facility of multiple entry, just valid for the renewal period an additional amount in Nepalese currency equivalent to U. S. Dollars 20 to the fee as referred to in Clause (a).
- In regularizing visa of any foreigner stayed without renewal of validity of the tourist visa, Nepalese currency equivalent 3 US dollars per day shall be levied in addition to the normal amount to be paid for renewal of the validity of visa as per these Regulations.
- Foreigners, who have already been overstayed more than 150 days without renewing the tourist visa shall be levied the fees referred in clause 2(c) and penalty amount as referred to in section 10(4) of Immigration act in addition.
- Not withstanding anything written in clause 2(a), the period of visa fee shall be levied, for the purpose to renew tourist visa as 15 days and as referred to in clause 2(a) for more than this.
- Fee exemption of tourist visa
- Children below 10 yrs.
- Descendant's upto the age of 16 years, holding foreign passports, of Nepalese parents or either of their parent is a Nepalese citizen.
- Citizen of Nepali origin, after having obtained passport for the first time from a Nepal based foreign mission, until the period of his departure to a foreign country.
Some Important information to tourist : Don't or Do's
- A tourist may stay in Nepal upto 150 days in a visa year (Jan-Dec).
- A tourist must extend his/her visa before expiry of the visa validity period.
- A tourist who does not comply with these regulations may be liable of fine and other prosecution as provided in Immigration Act and Rules.
- A Foreigner having obtained tourist visa shall not allowed to work with or without receiving remuneration.
- A foreigner shall not be allowed to carry out any work other than that for which purpose s/he has obtained the visa.
