My wife, eldest adult daughter, and I went on a 12-day private tour (including two travel days) covering Chengdu in China (1 night), Lhasa in Tibet (2.5 days), Kathmandu in Nepal (3 days), and Paro and Thimphu in Bhutan (4 days). Everest Vacations arranged everything for us — visas, travel permits, hotels, guides, drivers, airport pick-ups/drop-offs, and the full itinerary. All we had to do was show up.
Everything was superb. Netra from Everest Vacations was exceptionally responsive and ensured every part of our journey went smoothly.
I initially shared only a high-level idea of where we wanted to go and our preferred timing, and Netra took care of the rest. The itinerary was flexible — we could do as much or as little as we wanted each day. Along with sightseeing, we had time to relax at our hotels, so it never felt like one of those “7am to 9pm nonstop” tours. The only early start was our departure from Paro, which was simply due to the flight schedule.
Most days began around 9am after breakfast, followed by a few hours of sightseeing with a mix of tourist highlights and local experiences. We usually stopped for lunch at a local restaurant, continued sightseeing for a few more hours, and returned to the hotel around 5pm — in time to relax and enjoy dinner.
The pace was entirely ours. Whether it was taking extra time for photos, resting during hikes, or pausing by a river to unwind, the guides and drivers accommodated us with ease. They were all knowledgeable, kind, and helpful, and the cars were very comfortable.
We chose the 5-star hotel package, which was excellent, with stays at Shangri-La and Marriott hotels. Surprisingly, our favourite hotel was in Paro — Nak-Sel Resort (rated 4*), thanks to its stunning location and views. We highly recommend it.
Our only suggestion would be to add 1–2 extra days in each location, including Chengdu at the start. But that was limited by our own vacation availability, not the tour itself.
Overall, it was a wonderful, well-organized, and worry-free experience.
