Overview

Australian Camp trek is one of the easy and short trek routes located in the foothills of the Annapurna region. The trek starts from the beautiful city of Pokhara. Australian Camp trek takes 2 nights and 3 days in the Himalayas with a visit to Dhampus village. Australian Camp and Sarangkot is a pleasant walk that offers some awe-inspiring views of Mt. Annapurna range, Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), and many others. This trek can be done all year round and is suitable for age-group people without any hiking experience. The highest point of this trek is 2,060 meters in Australian Camp.

Dhampus Australian Camp Sarangkot Trek journey initialize from Phedi and start our trek toward Australian Camp on the first day of the trek. The camp offers some majestic scenery of hills and mountains. On the second day, we trek toward an amazing viewpoint, Sarangkot which offers some best scenery of mountain ranges. On our third day trek, witnessing beautiful sunrise from Sarangkot we descend toward Pame, Pokhara where we can enjoy fishing and local fish. On the fourth and last day of our trek, we head to a beautiful city Pokhara, and explore the beauty of the city.

The trek gives you a great impression of the magnificent Himalayas. From sunrise to sunset, the color keeps on changing offering the most incredible views all around. Hike through dense forests, along the hillsides and villages. Spend the night in a lodge at the Australian Camp and Sarangkot from where you have the majestic Himalaya’s views nearly all around.

Day by Day Activities

An early drive to Phedi will take about 1 hour. We drive through a large Tibetan camp at Hyanjha where location handicrafts can be purchased and the waving of Tibetan carpets can be observed. The next village before Phedi is Suikhet. Suikhet provides an alternative route to Dhampus. The road to Phedi in the YamdiKhola Valley is quite good. From Phedi, you can start climbing uphill through rhododendrons and oak forests and make your way to Australian Camp. You will arrive at the Australian Camp in about 2 hours from Dhampus. Overnight in Teahouse.

On the last day, there are two alternative trails, either you walk to Sarangkot or descend to Phedi to drive to Pokhara. We walk on the Kaski ridge from NaunDanda to Sarangkot (1592m. The views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre can be seen all along the way. The day hike from Naundanda to Sarangkot can take about 4 hours. Sarangkot is a popular viewpoint for tourists and locals to see the surrounding view and the Himalayas. Overnight in Sarangkot.

We wake up early morning to witness the stunning view of Sunrise from the top of the Sarangkot. It is one of the best destinations in Nepal to experience the amazing sunrise view and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Pokhara Valley from the top of Sarangkot. After breakfast, hike to Pame which is a famous place for fishing and its local fish. After spending some time, we will drive back to Pokhara. Overnight at Lakeside.
